Strait Tuna... Right on Queue

July 9, 2017

Bluefin game is on point this year in the north of Morocco. A couple of great catches by an experienced crew showing off the great opportunity for an amazing fishing experience with us. The 370-lb and 485-lb fish were caught off the coast of Tangier in the busy Strait of Gibraltar. This included an epic 4-hour fight to reel in the 485-lb beauty. Looking forward to having you with us this summer and putting you on some fish.

WE DID IT !

July 7, 2013

What a day and what a catch !
Perhaps when we left the Port of Mohammedia going north this morning we didn't expect anything like this. Especially after a tough morning dealing with some wind and getting the lures to swim properly. A first strike in the morning led to a 20 minute fight that ended with the fish sprinting towards the boat and giving too much slack. Eventually, what was most likely a mid-size blue marlin managed to get away. About an hour after we put the lines back in the water a monster blue marlin put a black and red lure airborne before attacking it ferociously and jumping. This signaled the beginning of a 1h45min fight with the fish. The end result came down to the angler's (Tanguy Perennes) experience and the captain and skipper's (Mohamed Rayad) calm and composure. This blue marlin weighed in at 705 lbs. This gives the port of Mohammedia a total of 3 blue marlin in 4 weeks with numerous unfruitful fights and other timid strikes. We expect to have a great marlin season here in Morocco as the sea water temperatures keep rising.

Blue Marlin Day Trip

June 21, 2013

We will be heading out tomorrow morning from the Port of Mohammedia for what we hope will be a beautiful day at sea. Fellow anglers have been getting a few blue marlin strikes per day regularly. Our friend Jo Canale had a one hour and a half fight with a huge one two days ago and we're about to see what's going on 30 miles off the coast of Mohammedia !

705-lb Blue Marlin

June 9, 2013

It was just around sunset time 35 miles off the coast of Kenitra as the three boats involved in the Mohammedia Blue Marlin Quest were getting ready to reel the lines in when Captain Christian spotted something in the ocean. Soon enough the anglers aboard One More came to realize that it was a big blue marlin. Laurent Sahyoun got in the chair and fought the fish for about an hour while we circled and watched this incredibly beautiful Moroccan sunset action. Earlier that day, aboard Neptune, we had a blue marlin strike and quick fight that lasted about 15 minutes but the fish managed to get loose after slightly damaging a lure. Congratulations to Laurent and his team for a great fight, a great catch, and for beating Fouad Sahiaoui's previous blue marlin record of Morocco.

Mohammedia Blue Marlin Quest

June 6, 2013

As blue marlin strikes have been more frequent over the past few years off the coast of Mohammedia and Kenitra, the anglers of the Port of Mohammedia are setting out on a 3-day quest to try and confirm the trends. It seems as though there may potentially be a short blue marlin season in Morocco during the month of June. Three boats will be taking part in the event (leaving tomorrow morning at 7 AM): Neptune, One More, and Black Marlin.
